An exhibition seeking to provide the viewer with a starting point for abandoning their understandings of the library, and instead, living through the artists archive.
The artists work begins to question the authority of this archive delving into precarious states of being, censorship, and perceptions of dependency, the format of the library becomes the artists studio, a work in progress. If academia is gained through texts, how does one begin to understand the things we cannot represent when words fail us?
‘The fact is, inside him spirits (little ones anyway) have taken up residence- with the result that, for the collector, ( a real one, I mean, a collector as he should be), ownership is the very deepest relationship a person can have with things: not that they live inside him; it is he who lives in them. In this talk I have shown you one of his houses, where the bricks are books, and now fittingly, he disappears inside.’ – Walter Benjamin
